MEC changes to Panorama use and installation

To allow consistent printing from various work stations, MEC has been making the following changes to the basic Panorama installation.

1. To the Panorama "entityrc" file, located usually in the \Apps\Softquad\Panorama Publisher 2.0\Entityrc directory(folder), add the following line(s:

   -- Changes should be made only to this supplementary file: --
   ENTITYRC "F:\MARKUP\MEC\ASSIST\MECODE\CATALOGS\ENTITYRC"
   

   Where "F:" is the letter assigned to the networked drive ('sys' on Library_hti). This line causes Panorama to look at a centrally-maintained entityrc file: the same DTD should thus always be mapped to the same Panorama style sheets and navigators, regardless of which workstation is used.

2. To the Panorama "catalog" file, located usually in the \Apps\Softquad\Panorama Publisher 2.0\Catalog directory(folder), add the following line(s):

   -- Changes should be made only to this supplemenary catalog file: --
   CATALOG "F:\MARKUP\MEC\ASSIST\MECODE\CATALOGS\PANOCAT1"
   

   (that's panocat-ONE, not -EL), where "F:" is the letter assigned to the networked drive ('sys' on Library_hti). This line causes Panorama to look at a centrally maintained catalog file: the same public identifiers should thus always be mapped to the same dtd and entity files, regardless of which workstation is used.

3. Save the Panorama sdata.map file (located usually in the \Apps\Softquad\Panorama Publisher 2.0 directory(folder)) as sdata.old or some such, delete the file sdata.mpc (if it exists) and copy into the same directory the latest version of the sdata.map file, which may by obtained from Chris Powell, or may be found in the standard configuration directory; or use the one located in the directory F:\Markup\Mec\Assist\Mecode\Catalogs, which is a limited-use, MEC-only version.

4. NEVER attach a personal style sheet while working in Panorama with MEC files. If you must modify an existing style sheet, attach the style called "modify" and modify that.
